First Week on Narrowboat Hang Loose

Loving Life on Narrowboat Hang Loose

We have been in our new home for a week and loving every minute of living our dream.

Paul and two schnoodles on our new narrowboat
Winston came to visit

Three days at work for me this week.  We made Lasagne for tea which was delicious – Chan and Ross came and joined us with Winston.  It was brilliant to see them – they have just returned from their road trip in Scotland – which Chan surprised Ross with for his 30th birthday.  We really had a lovely night looking at their photos and hearing all about it.

Paul got his generator going and he’s been in the engine to adjust the valve for the heating – he’s learning a lot – and loving it.  I’m so jealous that I’ve been stuck at work!!!  He’s got the batteries up to 80%, the heating came on this morning – although we don’t really know how we did that!!  The fire was still glowing so it was lovely and warm this morning.

On Friday Tilly was dropped off with Daisy my niece and her partner to stay for the weekend.  They really want a puppy so they are trying it out with Tilly – I miss her already.  Paul has been cleaning today and the boat looks immaculate – I love it.  Storm Eric is on his way – it’s so windy!!  The boat is tied up tight and we are hunkered down for the night.

We had our first cooked breakfast on the boat and it was delicious – I could get used to that!

Delicious!

We went out and did some shopping then made a curry for tea.  Chan and Winston came to join us and stayed the night – lovely evening – very chilled and cosy.  Missing Tilly loads but Daisy has sent photo’s and she looks as though she’s having a lovely time – I don’t think she’s pining for us!

Winston – what a gorgeous boy

Chan left early for work and Winston stayed with us – snuggling down into bed and falling straight back to sleep.  After dropping Winnie off at home we then picked Tilly up – so good to have her back.

Had a lovely walk to Shardlow with the puppas and went for a little pint in the Clock Warehouse.  This is a lovely pub right by the lock – great to sit outside especially on a lovely summer day and watch all the boats go by.

Woke to a very cold, very beautiful frosty morning – it’s just so amazing to wake up to such a beautiful view.

Can’t get enough of these views

It’s been a fabulous first week – we’ve stayed on the boat the whole time – it is home already and we are definitely living the dream.

Very, very happy.

Sounds wonderful! I’m looking to buy a narrowboat in the next few months. This inspired me. I’ll have my two rescue dogs and two rescue cats ?

Looks great! I’m becoming more and more captivated by your tales! I’m not very mehanical though.. the thought of have to tinker with engines and valves sounds daunting.

Thanks – we are really loving it and it’s going to be even more fun when we can start cruising more – I’m not into engines at all – Paul deals with all that but I do want to learn how to do the basic engine checks ?
