Our Narrowboat Dreams
Our dream for a long time has been to own and live on a narrowboat. We have been on Narrowboat holidays for many years – the latest of which you can read about here.

We have done loads and loads of research – especially my husband – read endless copies of Canal Boat, joined Facebook groups and been to Crick Boat Show. Paul has spent hours drawing plans and researching batteries, inverters and lots of other stuff that I don’t have much of a clue about and I even have a board on Pinterest called Narrowboat Dreams that was probably my first ever board on there when I was literally just looking for ideas and had not ever even dreamed of doing a blog!
Anyway Paul has now retired so hopefully our Narrowboat Dreams will soon become a reality – very exciting – and a little scary!
We are now looking for our new home – it may turn out that we have one built but if we find a used boat that ticks all the boxes then we will go for that.
I think many of my posts may now be updates on our progress as I really want to keep a record of our progress just like I do with our walks – it’s so easy to forget things and even now I look back at blog posts and it’s lovely to see the many walks we’ve been on and the fantastic holiday we had in Venice and Paestum this year.
So here goes – New Year – new adventures – here’s to Narrowboat Dreams hopefully coming true 🍺😊
That sounds so exciting! I used to work with a couple who lived on a narrowboat, the guy used to tell me about it and how he had to have his ‘bottom blacked’ as he called it! I think that was something to do with having the bottom of the narrowboat painted.
It has crossed my mind of selling up and living on one, but I wouldn’t know what to do or where to start and I’m not sure it would work with our cat and dog who don’t get on.
We are so excited- yes lol it is having the bottom of the boat painted x
How exciting and what a fantastic idea!! Certainly something very different. Good on you that’s great 😀
😊 thank you – very exciting times xx
Good luck with your search. We have been living our narrowboat dream for 5 months now and are more in love with it every day!
Thank you so much Diane – good news may be here very soon 😊
That sounds exciting and scary all at once (bit like having your first child!) You have an idea of what you think it will be like, and turns out to be slightly different. I wish you the best of luck on your new adventure.
Thank you so much – we’re so excited – hopefully a new post will be up very soon with an update 😆
