Sunday Morning Stroll

Posted on October 7, 2018July 5, 2020 by Steph

Got up this morning – lovely winter crisp cold day – and decided to go for a walk – we were going to do a circular walk around Swarkestone but decided it may be too long for today as we needed to get back to do Sunday dinner.

So – we decided to go and park in Borrowash, walk down towards Elvaston Castle and then go along the river and see where it led us. So off we went …

Start of the walk

Had to try out my new coat ?

What a gorgeous morning for a walk

We then turned off from the river and walked over the fields

Love the little dog gate

We came to a little village called Ambaston which looks absolutely beautiful- very big gorgeous houses – just need a lottery win! Although having said that – if we do win the lottery the first thing we’d be buying would be our dream narrowboat!

Anyway … back to reality lol – from here we walked another mile back to Elvaston where we walked through the grounds of Elvaston Castle which was lovely ❤️ loads of people out with their children and dogs – unfortunately I managed to knock a small child over – Tilly was chasing around with a couple of dogs and I was that busy watching them that I didn’t see the small child in front of me and I walked straight into him – falling over myself in the process – luckily I didn’t land on top of him ? oops – I’m such a clumsy oaf and as my husband is always telling me – I have no spatial awareness – anyway – the child was fine so it was ok.

Oh – and no – much to his disappointment, hubby did not manage to get a picture.

Walking back through the woods

Childhood memories – used to slide down this hill on our bottoms when we were kids

From Elvaston Castle we walked up the road back to the car.

We managed to figure out a lovely circular walk which took us 2 hours and was 5 miles long.

Home now to cook dinner for us and dad – and of course our Sunday lunch time pint – cheers ?
