Another camping trip – can’t get enough of them! This time we went to Hardhurst Farm Campsite at Bamford which was great – pretty basic – there’s a cafe that’s open in the mornings, but we prefer Paul to cook us our bacon cobs.
So Paul and I went Friday morning and set up the tents ready and then Chantelle, Ross and our niece, Lauren will arrive tonight.
Gorgeous sunny day and it was beer o’clock – of course. We had a BBQ and the usual card games and the drinks flowed into the evening!
Saturday – walk planned is Win Hill and Thornhill (taken from Peak District Outstanding Circular Walks) – just over 6 miles – with a steady ascent to the summit of Win Hill (beautiful views from the summit) and a more direct descent through woodland paths down to Ladybower Reservoir – so off we went …
Quite nice and flat so far … and beautiful views already
Then the slow, steady climb began – it was quite hard going (for me anyway!) especially just as we got near the summit of Win Hill – but so worth it for the amazing views – you can see Mam Tor, Bamford Edge, Kinder Scout – fabulous.
Loz and I bringing up the rear –
Resting at the top –
And then the easier bit – the descent!
The descent takes you through a beautiful wooded area –
And then on to a track leading down to the lakeside –
This is such a beautiful walk – although my little legs were quite tired by the end – Tilly had to have a little sit down and cool off

By this time we near the pub was near – and we were so ready for a pint so we had a lovely lunch and a couple of beers before heading back to the campsite.

That evening we went for another walk to the pub – think we walked about 13 miles today – no wonder my legs are tired! Was such a lovely day though – enjoyed every minute.
Sunday was spent packing up, little game of cricket and then to the local pub to watch England – and they won – happy days – great end to our trip.
